Relocation Guide Websites

Web Design & Development

Role: Web & UX Designer / Front-End Developer
Led end-to-end redesign, prototyping, and development of a multi-city relocation platform focused on lead generation and advertiser revenue.

Overview

After five years of working with WebMedia Group (WMG), I was tasked with redesigning their relocation guide websites to align with the company’s updated brand identity. The existing sites were outdated, lacked mobile responsiveness, and presented information in a cluttered, unintuitive format. This project was an opportunity to modernize the digital experience, improve user navigation, and create a seamless connection between the brand’s print and online presence.

To stay ahead of web design trends, I took the initiative to expand my skills, learning Figma for wireframing and prototyping. This allowed me to create a more efficient workflow and enhance collaboration with developers.

Challenge & Goals

The primary goal was to rebrand and rebuild the websites to match the refreshed print design while enhancing user experience and engagement. Each market-specific website needed to:

  • Provide localized content with articles and resources relevant to potential movers.
  • Improve user flow to help visitors easily navigate and find key information.
  • Increase conversions by strategically placing calls to action (CTAs) that encouraged users to request a relocation guide.
  • Enhance visual appeal with a structured yet dynamic layout that balanced content density with readability.

Approach & Process

Led UX strategy, wireframing, and prototyping to validate layouts and user flows prior to development, reducing rework and improving launch timelines.

  • Used user behavior insights and analytics to refine navigation, page layouts, and CTAs, resulting in longer session duration and deeper content engagement.
  • Balanced brand, usability, and performance to create relocation-focused experiences tailored to high-intent users.
  • Built a repeatable site framework that reduced time-to-launch for new cities and enabled efficient long-term maintenance.
  • Problem-Solving & Self-Learning – When faced with WordPress’ design limitations, I proactively researched solutions through tutorials and development forums.

Outcome & Impact

  • Redesigned and rebuilt a high-traffic relocation website, improving UX, content hierarchy, and conversion paths, contributing to a significant increase in lead generation year over year.
  • Optimized site architecture, calls-to-action, and forms to increase relocation guide sign-ups and inquiry submissions, supporting measurable growth in the company’s lead database.
  • Designed and developed conversion-focused landing pages that improved user engagement and increased email sign-ups across multiple city markets.
  • Created scalable design systems and templates that enabled rapid rollout of six additional city sites, expanding the company’s lead-generation footprint without increasing development costs.
  • Solely designed and developed a custom business directory for each city site, creating a monetizable platform for local advertisers and service providers.

Reflection

This project solidified my passion for web design and development, bridging my print background with digital expertise. It reinforced my ability to adapt, problem-solve, and learn new tools—proving that with the right mindset (and a few YouTube tutorials), there’s no design challenge I can’t tackle.
