Role: Senior Graphic Designer (RedRoc & Contract Freelance)
Client: Twin Liquor, Annual Holiday Brochure
Location: Austin, Texas
Years: 2015 – 2018
Overview
During my time at Redroc Advertising, I was entrusted with designing Twin Liquors’ annual Holiday Gift Guide, a multi-page publication showcasing premium spirits, cocktail pairings, and holiday gift ideas. This project required balancing brand consistency with fresh, engaging layouts while ensuring a seamless blend of typography, imagery, and product storytelling.
Challenge & Goals
The primary challenge was crafting a visually compelling brochure that aligned with Twin Liquors’ established brand identity while also evolving the design each year. The guide needed to accommodate extensive text and imagery without feeling cluttered, ensuring a refined, high-end aesthetic that resonated with customers. To achieve this, I collaborated closely with my Art Director to analyze past editions, refine the design approach, and introduce new creative elements.
Approach & Process
The project began with assisting at the product photoshoot—selecting cocktail combinations, complementary glassware, and ensuring a cohesive visual narrative. Once the photography was finalized, I developed the design framework:
-
Typography & Layout Strategy – Established a hierarchy for H1–H4 styles to create a structured, engaging flow for text-heavy sections.
-
Color & Font Pairings – Researched and applied seasonal palettes and font combinations that complemented the holiday theme while maintaining brand consistency.
-
Refined Visual Balance – Redesigned existing layouts with a fresh perspective, ensuring product imagery and editorial content stood out effectively.
Outcome & Impact
For four consecutive years, I was entrusted with the full creative execution of the Twin Liquors Holiday Gift Guide, a testament to the success and impact of my design approach. The project allowed me to contribute to a well-established Texas brand while refining my expertise in editorial design, visual storytelling, and brand-driven art direction.
